With two cuts from a white weapon (knife), the body of teacher Isabel Martin Navia, 53, was found inside her home located in the Codesa neighborhood, in the south of the city of Esmeraldas.

His 27-year-old son is accused of this murder that would have been committed between Monday night and early Tuesday, March 1.

The woman’s body was found by her relatives in the bed of her bedroom in the middle of a pool of blood, yesterday morning.

Javier Buitrón, police commander of Subzone 8, confirmed the crime and indicated that the alleged murderer would be a drug user.

Martin’s motivation for the crime would be that she tried to stop her son from stealing money or belongings from her home. Before that, it was said preliminarily, the attack with a knife would have taken place after which the young man fled from the house.

The woman was an English teacher at the Fausto Molina Educational Unit, located near the place where she lived.

In May 2016, Doris Oviedo, 58, was murdered by her son Vicente Plaza Oviedo, who decapitated her with a machete, after an argument with her mother. The crime happened in Palestina, Rioverde, north of Esmeraldas.

The aggressor was arrested and sentenced to 34 years and 8 months, but died in the riot of prisoners in the Latacunga prison, a year ago.
