Yacuri National Park

It is located between the provinces of Loja and Zamora Chinchipe. The park protects moorland environments, cloud forests, and high dry scrublands, which are the result of the convergence of the conditions of the dry West and the wetter East.

Income from Windows: On the Quito – Calacalí highway. At 6 kilometers from the Monument to the Middle of the World, in the Caspigasí sector (there is a gas station in the sector), turn off to the right and continue for 1.2 kilometers to the viewpoint.

Income by Moraspungo: On the Quito – Calacalí road, continue 8 kilometers after the Caspigasí sector, until you reach a second gas station. After 500 meters there is a dirt road on the right hand side. After 3 kilometers you reach the control of Moraspungo. From this sector it takes 30 minutes to reach the caldera through a road with many curves and a steep slope that covers an area of ​​12 kilometers.

El Ángel Ecological Reserve

It is located in the province of Carchi. The El Ángel moor is very humid and has many lagoons that provide water to a large part of the Carchi province. In the buffer zone of the reserve there are forests of paper or red trees, named for the color of their bark and because their trunk is peeling off. Deer, condors and curiquingues are among the animals that can be seen in the area.

On the Panamericana Norte, passing through Ibarra (123 km); At the Mascarilla police control, 30 km from Ibarra, take the road to El Ángel (35 km).

From El Ángel
