MANTA, Manabi
A young man died while fleeing from his victimizers in a chase that extended for more than eight kilometers between the cantons of Manta and Montecristi.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at the La Paola site, in the Montecristi canton, located at kilometer 6 of the Manta-Montecristi road.
The victim was identified as Kevin Asley Delgado Delgado, 21, who in the first reports was known to be engaged in the marketing of fish.
The first investigations carried out by police officers indicate that Delgado was driving a white double cab truck. He would have been chased from the Urbirríos sector, in the south of Manta, by people who were traveling in another car. They would have shot at the vehicle in which the victim was traveling.

Witnesses indicated that those who were chasing Delgado had shot on the way from Urbirríos to the La Paola sector. At the height of the Monte Cristo site, Delgado lost control of the truck, where his mother and five minors were also traveling.
Patricio Almendáriz, chief of the Manta Police district, indicated that Delgado, losing control of the truck, collided with two power poles.
In the vehicle in which Delgado was traveling there were two holes, presumably caused by gunshots. Police did not confirm whether the shooting or the traffic accident was the cause of Kevin Delgado’s death. (I)
