In the false bottom of a vehicle, 92 packages (92 kilos) of marijuana were found during an operation carried out by the Esmeraldas Anti-Narcotics Police.
The seizure of the drug and the capture of a person were the product of an operation on the highway in the Y de San Mateo sector, entering the capital of Esmeralda, early this Sunday, February 27.

The double bottom was found between the floor of a blue vehicle with Guayas license plates. “It is a new modality for the illegal transport of narcotics used by drug traffickers to evade review and controls,” said Javier Buitrón, commander of Subzone 8 of Esmeraldas.
Some 180,000 doses were taken out of circulation with this seizure, he said.

More than half a ton of drugs of all kinds have been seized in Subzone 8 so far this year.
The narcotics would come from the neighboring country of Colombia, with entry through the northern border of Esmeraldas. (I)
