The Israeli Embassy in Ecuador on Thursday delivered donations to families affected by heavy rains and flooding in Cotopaxi, including 20 complete bedding sets and 400 food kits.
The delivery was made by the Israeli ambassador Zeev Harel to the families of the El Tingo, La Esperanza and San Andrés parishes belonging to the Pujilí canton of the Cotopaxi province.
The Embassador expressed its solidarity with the people affected by the floods and expressed Israel’s desire to continue collaborating with Ecuador.
“I want you to know that Israel is with you and that we will continue to support the Ecuadorian people in whatever is necessary as we have always done,” said the Israeli diplomat.
Jhonny Toapanta, representative of the affected families, who traveled to Quito to receive the donations, He stated that not much help has come to the parishes since the area is difficult to access, therefore, the help provided by the embassy is one of the few that has reached the sector.

Parish authorities also took the opportunity to ask for help, both from the Government and from different public and private organizations, since due to the strong storm several families were left homeless.
“I want to take advantage of the fact that we are gathered here to thank the Embassy of Israel and also to ask the institutions that see us and listen that the parishes of Pujilí need their help,” said the parish priest Gerardo Montenegro.
In order to better channel aid the parishes belonging to Pujilí organized a Unified Command Post, through which it is expected to continue receiving collaborations.
In this area of the province of Cotopaxi, 53 families were left homeless due to the floods that occurred on January 30. In addition, 3 precincts must be relocated, leaving a total of about 230 affected families. (I)
