Héctor Gómez Jácome, an active-duty police officer, is one of the four fatalities in the armed attack that occurred Thursday night in the Jujan canton, Guayas province. Among those killed there is also an older adult, according to police reports.
He is not the first uniformed victim of a violent act, on Friday, February 17, in Guayaquil a police officer was seriously injured during an incident in a liquor store in the southwest of the city.

Regarding the murder in Jujan, according to witnesses, the victims along with other people were celebrating a birthday inside a house when unknown subjects on motorcycles arrived at the scene and shot them. The incident left one person injured.
The policeman was part of the celebration that took place near the central park of Jujan, said his relatives, who in order to try to save his life admitted him to a clinic in Babahoyo, but the efforts of the doctors were in vain.
