Russia’s operation in Ukraine is a gross violation of international law, the basic principles of human coexistence. This statement was made by the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, his speech was published on the website of the European External Action Service.

“A major nuclear power has attacked a neighboring country and is threatening reprisals against any other state that can come to its aid,” Borrell said.

According to him, “it costs many lives with unknown consequences for the world.” Russia’s operation in Ukraine is “Europe’s darkest hour since World War II,” Borrell said.

Recall that on the night of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. He stressed that the plans of the Russian Federation “does not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories”, but “the Russian Federation considers it important that all the peoples of Ukraine can use the right of self-determination.”
