Shoigu, Simonyan, Zakharova and others: the EU published a complete list of Russians sanctioned for recognizing the LDNR

The official journal of the European Union published a list of Russian citizens who fell under EU sanctions for Russia’s recognition of the independence of the DPR and LPR. The list consists of over 350 names.

In particular, it included Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, editor-in-chief of the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan, TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, head of the presidential administration Anton Vaino, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, head of the Ministry of Economy Maxim Reshetnikov. Also on the list are businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin and members of his family, VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov, and VTB President and Chairman Andrei Kostin.

In addition, more than 300 State Duma deputies were sanctioned, including Vice Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy and Gennady Zyuganov. Also on the list are Vice Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Igor Osipov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, and Sergei Dronov, Commander of the Air Force.

Sanctions come into force from the moment of publication of the document. They imply a ban on the entry of persons on the list into the territory of the European Union and the freezing of assets in the territory of the union for individuals, as well as the freezing of assets of organizations. European citizens and organizations are prohibited from transferring funds to the persons on the list.

For the first time, individual sanctions against citizens of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, whom the European Union considers involved in “undermining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine”, were first introduced in March 2014. Currently, this list includes 555 individuals and 52 organizations.
