Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass.

In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.”

According to the Russian president, the plans of the Russian Federation “do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories,” however, “the Russian Federation considers it important that all the peoples of Ukraine can exercise the right of self-determination.”

At the same time, “responsibility for possible bloodshed,” according to Putin, “will be entirely on the conscience of the Ukrainian regime.”

The Russian president also promised that “in case of interference in the situation in Ukraine from the outside, Russia will respond immediately”, and stressed that “justice and truth are on the side of Russia.”

He expressed his belief that “Russian servicemen will professionally and courageously fulfill their duty.”

The broadcast was conducted by the Russia-24 TV channel.
