The aviation authorities of Ukraine made an emergency decision to close the airspace for civil aircraft due to possible threats to civil aviation after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Donbass.
Earlier, the international warning system for air personnel NOTAM announced the restriction of flights of civil aircraft within the airspace of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.
Before that, it became known that the airspace of Russia near the borders of Ukraine is closed to civilian aircraft due to the security threat due to the use of military equipment.
According to the Flightradar24 portal, the airspace of several southern regions of Russia is closed.
For its part, the head of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol), Eamon Brennan, recommended not to use the airspace of Ukraine.
REPEAT URGENT: No ops in UKRAINE today. Zero rate applied. All operators advised. Russian NOTAM issued due to likely military activity. Ukraine NOTAM confirms. All advise. @eurocontrol @ECACceac @Transport_EU @IATA @A4Europe @EU_Commission

At the same time, the European Union aviation security agency called the territory of Ukraine an active zone of conflict.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.”
According to the Russian president, the plans of the Russian Federation “do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories,” however, “the Russian Federation considers it important that all the peoples of Ukraine can exercise the right of self-determination.”
Reacting to the Kremlin’s decision, US President Joe Biden, in a special statement, called Russia’s attack on Ukraine unprovoked and unjustified and promised to hold it to account.
For his part, UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged Putin to “stop the soldiers” from attacking Ukraine and give peace a chance.
