The Trolleybus and the Ecovía will operate normally in Quito on October 26

The Ministry of Mobility warned that it will sanction urban transport operators in the event of partial or total stoppage of the service.

A few hours after the representatives of the Union of Urban Transport Operators of Quito announced that on October 26 they will suspend the service for four hours, from 05:00 to 09:00, the Metropolitan Public Company of Passenger Transport of Quito (EPMTPQ) reported that the corridors Trolleybus and Ecovía will operate normally on Tuesday.

The passenger company clarified that there will be no changes to the circuits or feeder routes. The buses start working from 05:00.

“A contingent of control agents in transport units will guarantee the safety of the users ”, it is indicated in a statement.

Likewise, the entity indicated that the fleet will be optimized to have more units and to be able to meet a growth in passenger demand, before the announcement of the Union of Operators.

In addition to the Trolleybus and the Ecovía, The Suroccidental Corridor will also be operational, North Central Corridor, as well as the conventional urban, rural and combined intercantonal subsystem, reported the Municipality’s Mobility Secretariat.

The Secretariat pointed out that citizens have an unrestricted right to the public transport service, as established by the Constitution. And he warned that in the event of an eventual stoppage of the service, partial or total, “Operators that fail to comply with their current contracts will be administratively sanctioned.” (I)
