Around the death of a former Otavalo queen, Dayana Andrade, there is secrecy. The authorities do not want to rule on the case, as they argue that there is no information necessary to corroborate or rule out that it is a case of suicide.
The woman’s body was found lifeless this Tuesday, February 22, inside an apartment in Otavalo, where she lived.

The police report indicates that there was a lifeless body in that place.
The relatives of the former queen explained that they came to the building worried, because they had not heard from her since the 18th of this month and she had not been reported. That made them go looking for her.
Once at the scene, they said, they found Andrade’s body suspended in the doorway. Hence, the first presumption is that he would have committed suicide, but that must be confirmed with the investigations carried out by the Imbabura Criminalistics Unit.
It turned out that one of his last posts posted on his Instagram account, the previous Friday, said: “Suicide is definitive while the problem you are going through is temporary.”
Andrade was 25 years old, studied Law at the University of Otavalo and was elected queen of this canton in 2020.
In the municipality they stated that they do not have more information, since in the current administration, after a citizen consultation, they decided to suspend this type of event.
