A 9-year-old boy died this Tuesday and thus became the second collateral victim of an armed attack recorded in Guayaquil, on 33rd and Captain Nájera streets, on Friday, January 7. That day another minor, 11 years old, died during the violent act from which two adults were also injured.
The perpetrators approached this southwestern sector of the city aboard two vehicles and attacked those who were gathered in the doorway of a house. In this event, the antisocials used rifle-type and 9-millimeter weapons.

The minor who died this Tuesday was the uncle of the 11-year-old boy. His mother and sister (mother of the little boy who died the day of the violent act) were injured in the shooting attack.
Since the day of the attack, the 9-year-old boy had been hospitalized. They intubated him, he was in a coma, as he arrived at the health home in critical condition.
The two adults managed to recover from their condition and now ask that the necessary actions be applied to prevent more minors from being collateral victims of criminal acts.
Five minors killed and two injured, the collateral victims of violent attacks in Guayas and Manabí during the last quarter of 2021
This is a situation that became frequent in Guayaquil last year, following the murder of an 11-year-old boy at the hands of antisocials who entered an ice cream parlor located in Barrio Centenario, south of the city, to steal.
That event occurred on October 17, 2021. Since then, cases of minors affected during criminal acts have been reported in different sectors. (I)
