The leaders of Quito reported that they will hold a meeting with the Minister of Transportation.
On the morning of this Tuesday, October 26, urban transport in the capital came out to provide its service in a normal way. Yesterday, the leaders announced that they would not work from 05:00 to 09:00, however, after their press conference they would have agreed agreements with municipal and state authorities.
Jorge Yanez, President of the Union of Urban Transport Operators of Quito, confirmed to this newspaper that after his announcement the Minister of Transport, Marcelo Cabrera, and the mayor of Quito, Santiago Guarderas, requesting that they resume their operations.
He emphasized in the request for compensation to the carriers by means of the payment of a technical or social tariff to apply to urban transport. “We propose that we are paid per kilometer traveled, through a trust, ”argued Yánez.
Today they have agreed meeting of the representatives of the urban transport of Quito with the Minister of Transport and Public Works, the leaders pointed out that there was an openness to dialogue on the part of the authorities that allowed the change of measures.
On the other hand, municipal transport reported that its operations are maintained normally in its Ecovía, Trolleybus and feeder systems. The buses that connect the parishes of the valleys of Los Chillos and Tumbaco they also provided the service in a normal way.
Today they foresee mobilizations called by various unions against the price of fuel, which was frozen by decree of President Guillermo Lasso. (I)
