Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia Sergey Voznesensky commented on the official statistics on the incidence of coronavirus in Russia.
According to him, most likely, the peak of the coronavirus wave, which was provoked by the Omicron strain, has already been passed. “Based on official statistics, it can be assumed that in fact the peak of the wave of COVID-19, which is caused by the omicron strain, has now passed,” Voznesensky told RIA Novosti.
The specialist drew attention to the positive dynamics in the incidence of coronavirus in Moscow. He also voiced the assumption that herd immunity to covid in the Russian Federation is growing to significant levels.
Earlier, Voznesensky predicted that herd immunity to COVID-19 in Russia could be formed by the summer.
Recall that the daily increase in new cases of coronavirus in the Russian Federation amounted to 152 thousand 337 cases, of which in Moscow – 4997. Another 735 people died from the virus in the country per day.
