MANTA, Manabi
Felipe Cañarte Ponce died around 11:30 p.m. this Sunday after a traffic accident that occurred while driving a motorcycle, in which his wife, Genny AF, was also traveling, who was seriously injured.
The accident was recorded on the Manta-San Mateo road, near the Piedra Larga sector. Presumably, Cañarte would have lost control of the motorcycle.
The man was a native of the Milagro canton, in Guayas. This Monday, his relatives arrived in Manta to start the procedures for the removal of his body and take it to his hometown.

Blanca Cañarte, Felipe’s sister, indicated that her relative had lived in Manta for years, where he sold candies and cigarettes, and that there he married Genny A.; but that in Milagro he had a relationship in which she procreated two children, now adults.
He pointed out that Felipe’s eldest son is the one who asked those under the control of the Manta forensic center to hand over his father’s body. However, it was reported that a brother of Genny A., spouse of the deceased, would have opposed taking the body of the deceased to his native Milagro.
“The only one who has rights is the son (…). The woman is injured in the hospital, and so she has no power to decide; the ones we have are us,” said Blanca.
Until noon this Monday, February 21, it had not been possible to deliver the body of Felipe Cañarte, who with his current partner had not procreated children. (I)
