Key sugar producers in Russia fixed selling prices of 47 rubles. for 1 kg until July 31, 2022 inclusive. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture.

“In accordance with the recommendations for the trade policies of sugar producers, prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, 20 agricultural holdings have fixed selling prices for selling products at retail. Together, they provide 93% of the sugar produced in the country. Most manufacturers have decided to fix prices at 47 rubles per kg until July 31, 2022, inclusive.

Earlier, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut said that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation saw the risks of rising prices for milk and dairy products, bread, sugar and vegetables. So, she clarified, the price of bread did not grow very much last year, because the authorities provided a subsidy for 1 kg of bread in order to sell at retail at a virtually fixed price. As for vegetables, the trend will continue until the new season, until the harvest. The increase in sugar prices, according to Loot, is due to the cessation of restrictive measures. She clarified that the authorities had agreed with the main sugar producers that they would set a certain price for retail sales so that there would be no abrupt growth.

According to Rosstat, consumer prices in Russia rose from 8.39% in December 2021 to 8.73% in January 2022.
