The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Alexei Reznikov, assessed the likelihood of a hypothetical Russian invasion of Ukraine, which Kiev’s Western partners expect from day to day. According to him, at the moment, Ukrainian intelligence does not observe the formation of a strike group of the Russian Federation.
Nevertheless, the risks of attack remain in force, the minister said on the air of the ICTV channel. He believes that the deployment of such a group “may take from a week to a half month, depending on what kind of plan the Russian Federation has.”
At the same time, Aleksey Reznikov reassures fellow citizens, explaining that “any formation of a strike force will be recorded by Ukrainian intelligence, as well as Ukraine’s partners.” According to him, now the escalation is observed only in the territory of Donbass not controlled by Kiev.
The hypothetical Russian attack on Ukraine, which should take place in the winter of 2021-2022, has been discussed by the world and Ukrainian media for the fourth month in a row, while Ukraine’s Western partners threaten Russia with sanctions unprecedented in history. The aggravation of the conflict in Donbas, where general mobilization has been announced, as well as the evacuation of civilians to Russian regions, adds fuel to the fire.
