The Kingdom of the Netherlands changed its “pacifist” position and decided to provide Ukraine with weapons on the condition that they be used for defensive purposes. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced this on the air of the Ukraine-24 TV channel.
“Last year, the Dutch government opposed the acquisition of weapons by Ukraine through the NATO procurement system and did not supply us with any weapons,” the minister added. “But this week, the Dutch government changed its mind and delivered some defensive items to Kiev that are necessary for our defense capability.”
The Netherlands is going to supply Ukraine with 100 sniper rifles with ammunition, 3,000 helmets, 2,000 body armor, as well as radars and robots to search for mines. At the same time, the country’s authorities do not intend to send their military to Ukraine and emphasize that the deliveries will be carried out in accordance with EU rules on arms exports. At the same time, the Netherlands announces the temporary transfer of its diplomats from Kiev to Lvov. Earlier, a similar decision was made by the diplomatic missions of many countries, including the US and the UK.
