Russia may use “staged incidents” in the Donbass as a pretext for further invasion of Ukraine. This conclusion was reached by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries following the meeting in Munich.

The joint statement said that representatives of the G7 countries expect Russia to reduce its military presence near the borders of Ukraine. In addition, they believe that Moscow should influence the “LPR” and “DPR” to de-escalate.

“Russia should use its influence in the self-proclaimed ‘republics’ for purposes of restraint and de-escalation,” the statement said. It also states that the increase in the number of ceasefire violations along the line of confrontation in Donbass is of serious concern.

In addition, the G7 countries also condemn the distribution of Russian passports to residents of regions of Ukraine,” which clearly contradicts the spirit of the Minsk agreements.

“We will judge Russia by its deeds,” concluded the heads of foreign affairs departments, Korrespondent.net quotes.
