Although they remain operational due to a state of emergency, the thefts continue in the capital.
The National Police reported on the Actions carried out that made it possible to arrest the perpetrators of two robberies in the north of the capital. Total, five people were arrested in the different cases registered on October 23, 2021.
The first was about robbery of a business premises, located on Prensa and Gualaquiza streets. The agents began a manhunt that allowed the arrest of three people of Ecuadorian nationality, at the height of Avenida del Maestro.
In his power were found two firearms, ammunition and eleven cell phones of different brands.
The second robbery was reported in a building located on Leonardo Tejada street and Simón Bolívar avenue. A neighbor would have alerted about the entry of two people to the apartment next door forcing the locks.
Before the arrival of the police, they observed that two citizens rushed out of the place, so the uninterrupted persecution began. The two men, of Colombian nationality, they were intercepted at the El Ciclista ring.
In his power were found three cell phones, a razor, a screwdriver, a pressure wrench and two pairs of gloves.
Following the complaint, they were turned over to the authorities. The National Police also reported that notice of this arrest was given to the Colombian embassy.
Exception status
The operative between the National Police, Armed Forces and Municipality continue in the capital obeying the decree of state of emergency declared by President Guillermo Lasso.
This Monday they were present in areas such as People’s Committee, Carapungo and other points determined as conflictive. In total, 27 areas determined the authorities to be intervened with greater intensity due to the violence registered.
The Quito Security Secretariat reported that October 17 to 23, 923 events have been reported by the different municipal entities. Among them, the most relevant are 165 notifications issued for misuse of public space, 54 vehicular offenses and 53 socializations with informal vendors.
The operational will be maintained during the 60 days that the state of exception lasts. (I)
