The UK will create a Government Information Center to combat “disinformation from Russia” on the situation around Ukraine. This, according to RBC, reports Mail on Sunday, said Foreign Minister Liz Truss.
According to her, since the beginning of February, 40 cases of dissemination of disinformation by Russia on the issue of Ukraine have been identified. Truss said that the UK authorities “have done a lot to combat this.” In particular, she pointed out, Britain revealed a plan according to which Russia allegedly tried to “install a puppet regime” in Kiev.
“At the end of the Cold War, we disbanded our information division, but Russia did not disband its own, so we have been dealing with Russian disinformation for years,” she added.
Earlier, US President Joseph Biden said that Russia’s “attack” on Ukraine could happen “in the coming days.” Moreover, he expressed confidence that Putin allegedly decided on an “invasion”. The American leader added that the United States will not send its soldiers to Ukraine, but will continue to support the Ukrainian people. According to Biden, if the attack happens, the United States and its allies are ready to impose new “severe sanctions.”
Moscow denies these accusations. The Russian Federation is not going to “attack” Ukraine – neither on February 16, nor next week, Vladimir Chizhov, permanent representative to the EU, said.
The newspaper Politico “set” a new date for the “attack” of Russian troops on Ukraine – February 20.
At the same time, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine could turn into the largest war in Europe since 1945. He is sure that the “invasion” is inevitable – this is indicated by “evidence that cannot be embellished.”
