The National Police issued a bulletin informing the arrest of ten citizens posing as agents of his institution. Through an operation, the false police officers were intercepted on a street in the center of Quito.
The band was in an alleged anti criminal operation in the industry Cumanda, on Piedra and Morales streets.
According to the text of the National Police, this gang was dedicated to “crimes of usurpation and simulation of public functions, forgery and use of false document and usurpation of uniforms and insignia”.
“His modus operandi was allegedly use similar uniforms to those of the Motorized Operations Group (GOM) of the police institution, who had seals with the name of a security entity, ”says the statement.
In addition, it details that the uniforms had police badges in the grades of lieutenant and captain. The motorcycles on which they were found also had badges similar to those of the National Police.
The evidence retained is as follows:

- 10 helmets
- 2 communication radios
- 7 bulletproof vests
- 18 personal documents
- 8 cell phones
According to the document, it was consulted in the National Police information system (SIIPNE) and it was confirmed that the captain who led the group not included or provided as a police officer. (I)
