The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, signed a decree on general mobilization. This was reported on the website of the head of the Luhansk People’s Republic.
As specified in the decree, the mobilization was announced “to repel aggression.” Men aged 18 to 55 are drafted into the army, who are registered with the military, as well as in the reserve. They are forbidden to leave the republic.
The head of the LPR also allowed government agencies to seize vehicles and “other property necessary for defense needs” from enterprises, organizations and citizens. The decree comes into force on February 19.
Earlier, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, signed a decree on general mobilization.
The day before, the leaders of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR announced an emergency evacuation of civilians to the Rostov region. The first buses with evacuees arrived in the region on the evening of February 18. People were placed in a boarding house in the Neklinovsky district. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to pay each refugee arriving in the border Rostov region from Donbass 10,000 rubles. Kiev denies allegations of offensive operations in Donbass.
