The Lublin Court of Moscow replaced the person involved in the “sanitary case” Oleg Navalny, brother of Alexei Navalny (in Russia included in the list of organizations and individuals involved in extremist activities or terrorism – ed. ed.), a year of a conditional term for a year of a real one. Thus, the petition of the penitentiary inspectorate was granted.
According to Interfax, Oleg Navalny was not present at the court session. The judge, citing information from the Federal Penitentiary Service, said that the defendant bought a ticket to Cyprus on September 4, 2021 and the agency does not have data on his return. At the end of January, it became known that Oleg Navalny was put on the wanted list.
The Preobrazhensky Court in early August 2021 sentenced Oleg Navalny to a year of probation in the case of inciting to violate sanitary and epidemiological rules during an uncoordinated rally in Moscow. In September 2021, the Moscow City Court refused to change the sentence, recognizing it as legal.
According to the verdict, Oleg Navalny was ordered not to change his place of residence during the probationary period without notifying the PEC and to periodically check in there. On January 25, the inspectorate filed a petition with the court demanding that Oleg Navalny’s suspended sentence be replaced with a real one.
