Residents and representatives of the tourist sector of Atacames held a new sit-in to demand more police surveillance in resorts and tourist destinations where people and homes have been robbed.
One of these robberies with murder was José Mendoza (18 years old) and occurred in the Pedro Vicente Maldonado park, at about 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday of this week. The victim was shot in the abdomen when resisting the theft of his mobile phone.
On the night of this Thursday the 17th, a cooperative passenger taxi was shot in the body, in the Macará area, on the E15 sur Atacames-Muisne highway, with no record of injuries or deaths.

Police commissioners and political chiefs met with Mayor Paúl Cabrera to present the needs for fuel, vehicles and infrastructure for the police officers of the seven cantons, said Roberto Bosano, political chief of Atacames.
