The Ukrainian non-governmental organization “Free Idel-Ural” is recognized as undesirable in Russia. It is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“Based on the results of the study of the materials received, on February 16, the Prosecutor General’s Office decided to recognize the activity of the foreign non-governmental organization Gromadska Organization Vilniy Idel-Ural (Free Idel-Ural, Ukraine) as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the report says.

The Prosecutor General’s Office explained that the activities of the organization threaten the constitutional order and security of Russia.

According to Kommersant, the head of the movement, Tatar human rights activist Rafis Kashapov, was arrested on December 28, 2014 and sentenced in September 2015 to three years in prison for speaking out against the annexation of Crimea to Russia.

The situation around Ukraine has recently become aggravated due to media reports about a possible “invasion” of Russia. The Sun claimed that Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine would take place at 3:00 Kyiv time (4:00 Moscow time) on February 16, which ultimately did not happen. At the same time, the newspaper Politico “set” a new date for the “attack” of Russian troops on Ukraine – February 20.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO sees no signs of a de-escalation of the situation around Ukraine and will continue to denounce Russia’s “aggressive plans”.

Moscow denies the accusations.
