Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s national railway company, said it had halted long-distance train service in seven of its 16 states after a storm caused by Cyclone Ilenia hit northern Germany, paralyzing parts of the country. It is reported by Reuters.

In some parts of Germany, schools have closed, power outages have been recorded, strong gusts of wind are knocking down trees and ripping off billboards from buildings. Earlier it was reported that a ferry got into a storm at the mouth of the Elbe River. The wave broke the glass in it and flooded the salon.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, predicted that abnormally warm weather would come to Moscow this week. According to the forecaster, the Ilenia cyclone will bring rains (up to 20% of the monthly rainfall) and warming, but due to gusts of wind, one should be wary of ice falling from the roofs.

The Ministry of Emergencies recommends that Muscovites do not park cars under trees, do not exceed the speed limit and be vigilant on the road, and weather-dependent people should monitor their health.
