A 19-year-old girl who is almost four months pregnant has been attacked twice in recent months and her family is worried because they suspect that someone wants to end her pregnancy. It has happened in the sector of Las Malvinas, in the south of Guayaquil.
Melany was beaten for the first time in December when she was walking to a store near her home.
”She was accompanying her to buy some sneakers when a man attacked her. She supposedly wanted to steal from her, but she had nothing of value, “explained the victim’s mother-in-law, who lives a few houses away and is looking after her daughter-in-law while her son works.
The woman pointed out that on that occasion her daughter-in-law received blows to the stomach and was defended by the other woman who accompanied her. They shouted for help, the neighbors came out and the attacker fled.
Miraculously, the pregnancy was not affected and Melany continued with her routine, but this Monday, February 14, the woman, who is already 15 weeks pregnant, was attacked by another man.
It was 9:00 p.m. and she walked a block to her mother’s house to wait for her partner to come home from work.
The victim says that she reached the door and was waiting for it to be opened when a man grabbed her from behind and she turned around.
The attacker had a knife and produced several cuts on the hands and arms of the pregnant woman, as she tried to remove the knife from her belly.
”He asked me for my cell phone, but he wouldn’t let me give it to him because he immediately started stabbing me with the knife. I fell to the floor and the cell phone fell out of my pocket, at that moment my uncle opened the door and the guy grabbed the phone and ran away, “said the 19-year-old girl who already has a 2-year-old girl.
Everything was recorded on the sector’s security cameras, however, the family indicated that they have not yet filed a complaint, because they do not know who could be behind these attacks against Melany, although they have their suspicions. (I)
