Russia’s statements about the discovery of mass graves of civilians in the Donbass may be disinformation. This was stated to reporters in Washington by White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
According to official data from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in August-October last year, five spontaneous mass graves were discovered near the town of Snezhnoye, the village of Slavyanoserbsk, near Sokogorovka in Pervomaisk, and the village of Vidnoye-1 near Lugansk. “Of these, the remains of at least 295 civilians who died as a result of shelling by Ukrainian armed forces in 2014 were exhumed. It is already known that among the remains there are bodies of women of different ages, ”the RF Investigative Committee said in a statement. A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty.
“We are in a period of time where we believe an attack is possible at any moment and will be preceded by a fabricated pretext that the Russian Federation is using to invade,” Psaki said. According to her, the reason for the massacres in the Donbass can be such a pretext. She noticed that a large number of Russian troops remain near the border with Ukraine.
