Two fishermen, who had been reported missing by their relatives since noon on Tuesday, February 15, were rescued the same night that day by personnel from a coastal boat of the Ecuadorian Navy.

Naval personnel spotted the two men when they were drifting some 40 nautical miles from Jama canton.

The fishermen residing in Bahía de Caráquez were rescued around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 40 miles from Punta Venado, a coastal community in the Jama canton, north of Manabí, and it was learned that some belongings had been stolen from the boat. in which they moved.

According to a statement from the National Navy, it was the relatives of the disappeared who gave the alert, since they had to return the same day.

Captaincy personnel activated the search and rescue (SAR) plan and reinforced patrols up to 80 miles from the coast. When the patrol returned, the two fishermen were found.

The fishermen were adrift in the boat, their vital signs stable. After giving them all the necessary help, they were transferred to a safe port, where their relatives were waiting for them.

According to the first investigations, the fishermen stated that criminals took the fishing they had done and the fuel they mobilized for their work, so they remained adrift, until they were rescued by members of the Navy.
