As Rosbalt has already reported, the State Duma today adopted a draft resolution on an immediate appeal to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR.

With this recognition, everything is simple – this is a new stage of escalating tension around Ukraine, which (tension) in turn serves as a lever in negotiations with the United States and NATO. In reality, this will not change anything, except that, perhaps, Russian taxpayers will give more to the maintenance of these unrecognized republics. But even now no one asks them.

In 2015, the American company Stratfor reported that the DPR and LPR receive $ 1 billion a year from the Russians each. In 2016, the German publication Bild clarified that the self-proclaimed republics “take away” 1 billion euros from Russian citizens. But the exact data is only in the Kremlin. Moscow has never released any open figures.

One thing can be said for sure: the official recognition of the DPR and LPR by Russia will clearly increase, and not reduce, spending on their maintenance.

During the discussion of the letter to the President of the Russian Federation on the recognition of the DPR and LPR, the parliamentarians said a lot of interesting things, but Kazbek Taysaev, a deputy from the Communist Party faction, was especially good. From somewhere he found out the opinions of all Russians on the problem under discussion and stated that they were ready to make sacrifices for the benefit of the Donbass republics. In particular, he said that Russian citizens are ready to “give up not only the 13th salary.”

The citizens of Russia have found something to answer the owner of the magical gift to know the thoughts and aspirations of about 145 million people. Of course, advice prevailed on exactly where Kazbek Taysaev should go to find out who is ready for what “for the good of the Donbass republics”. Proposals were made to deprive the deputies of all salaries in general for the sake of the above-mentioned republics, and the Russians will somehow sort it out themselves. It was also proposed to make other sacrifices and generally abandon the current composition of the State Duma – for the good of Russia.

Rosbalt Like also collected other opinions and comments on the proposal expressed in the Russian parliament.
