The family of cameraman Galina Hutchins, who died on the set from a gunshot by actor Alec Baldwin, filed a lawsuit against the Hollywood star. It is reported by the New York Post.
The lawyers also posted on the network an animated video reproducing the tragic events that occurred on the set of the film Rust in October last year.
“There are many perpetrators, but Mr. Baldwin had a weapon … So, if he had not shot, she would not have died,” Hutchins family lawyer Brian Panish said at a press conference in Los Angeles. According to him, a significant share of the responsibility lies with Mr. Baldwin, but other participants in the tragedy are also included in the lawsuit.
Alec Baldwin is accused of firing what was supposed to be a fake gun, the single bullet that killed Hutchins, went through her body and hit director Joel Sauce in the collarbone. At the same time, the industry standard, according to lawyers, requires that the film crew be behind protective glass during the filming of such a dangerous scene.
Earlier, Alec Baldwin said that he did not pull the trigger of the ill-fated gun. During his first interview with ABC, he said that it was still hard for him to believe what had happened, and began to cry.
The Hutchins lawsuit is one of four lawsuits filed against Baldwin and the Rust producers. Earlier, three more representatives of the film crew, including the property owner, applied to the court.
