The second of the two men who appeared hanged early Monday, February 14, on a pedestrian overpass in Durán canton, has already been identified. The first was recognized yesterday.
This is Wilmer Paredes Santana, 33, who had disappeared on February 11.
The victim has no criminal record, only an investigation for a traffic accident.
Corpses hanging from a bridge in Durán: does the Mexican drug trafficker-style message imply an escalation of violence?
He would be the one who appears face down and handcuffed in the video broadcast Monday afternoon on social networks. In the 27-second video, two men allegedly hang him with a rope.
That same type of rope would have been found by the Police hours after the fact in a white van that was abandoned in the sector known as El Bosque, in Durán.
A home was raided in that area. The residents commented, a little scared, that at 10:00 on Monday the Police arrived at the scene, closed the street and began to investigate who had taken the vehicle to the sector.
In that car it is presumed that they would have moved the bodies to the pedestrian bridge. This fact caused concern in the population, since it is an unprecedented practice. Everyone in Durán prefers to remain silent for fear of reprisals from the antisocials.
Nor do they want to talk on Las Cabras hill about the alleged wake of one of the men shot Monday morning in a vehicle on Spring 2.
There would be a video of this event that circulated on social networks, in which it is seen how they shoot into the air and launch fireworks.
In the Government of Guayas, the security table was held, as every Tuesday. Several delegates from the control and justice entities intervened there to discuss the case.
Shortly after, the Police Commander, General Víctor Hugo Zárate, arrived at the Municipality of Durán, where he met with Mayor Dalton Narváez and the Director of Security and Justice and Surveillance of the Municipality of the neighboring canton.
Narváez announced that two community police units will be built, one on Las Cabras hill and another in the cdla. Abel Gilbert.
The mayor even said that the windows of these police stations will be armored to prevent armed attacks against the uniformed men.

It was also announced that 150 more cameras will be purchased. The mayor indicated that a camera on Las Cabras hill was destroyed over the weekend shortly before the men were hanged in the pedestrian crossing.
In addition, Dalton Narváez said that there are four communal houses ready to receive more police officers who arrive in Zone 8, made up of Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón.
A possible intervention will be discussed at the technical security table in the coming days, General Zárate said. He hopes that the Armed Forces will also be involved in this intervention. (I)
