Pachakutik is preparing a political trial against the Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, for issues of insecurity in the country

The Pachakutik movement is preparing a request for impeachment against the Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela, for breach of duties in taking timely actions for the anti-crime control of the country.

The announcement was made on February 15 by Assemblyman Ricardo Vanegas, who reported that this issue was addressed last Monday by his bench, due to the concern that exists regarding the insecurity that Ecuador is experiencing, specifically in the province of Guayas, where “Every day people die by murder or through violent deaths, they are hanged on bridges or murdered in the streets, like the former mayor of the El Triunfo canton,” he noted.

According to the national legislator, this insecurity and in the absence of an effective criminal policy, has a person responsible and that responsibility falls on the Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela.

As soon as they authorize me, we will present that request for trial, because Ecuador demands security, he pointed out.

In parallel, in the National Assembly, the report for the first debate of the bill on the progressive use of force is discussed in the Sovereignty, Integration and Integral Security Commission. The meeting for this February 15 is convened at 17:40. (I)
