A US citizen came to Russia to study at St Petersburg University and disappeared. This was reported in the virtual reception of the university.
The student planned to study Russian as a foreign language, for which she arrived in St. Petersburg at the end of January, visited the university on February 3 and signed an agreement.
“From 07.02.22, employees of St Petersburg University made repeated attempts to contact citizen Wells K.K. and establish her whereabouts, which were unsuccessful. So far, Wells K.K. has not contacted representatives of St Petersburg University, her whereabouts are unknown,” said Rector for Security Dmitry Gryaznov.
The university sent a statement to law enforcement agencies with a request to organize a search for a foreigner. Official statements from the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the UK have not yet been received.
Earlier, St Petersburg University terminated the employment relationship with teacher Michael Fries, who oversaw an academic exchange with Bard College, recognized in Russia as an undesirable organization. The reason was a letter from the FSB, which reported that a foreigner was banned from entering the Russian Federation for five years. Information about the researcher was removed from the university website.
