The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, in response to criticism, decided to suspend public discussion of the draft Fundamentals of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values.
This document was developed by the Russian Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage. D. S. Likhacheva (Heritage Institute).
As acknowledged in the ministry, “in the society, in the professional environment, there were many critical remarks.”
“In connection with the current discussion around this strategic planning document, today it is obvious that there is a need to search for new approaches to the development of the Fundamentals of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values,” the press service of the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
Recall that earlier the heads of many Russian theaters published an open letter to the chairman of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia Alexander Kalyagin, who spoke out against the proposals of the Ministry of Culture to adjust the foundations of state cultural policy.
And later, Znak.com notes, the Art Pictures Studio film company, founded by Fyodor Bondarchuk and Dmitry Rudovsky, issued an appeal addressed to the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, which was signed by more than 30 directors and producers. As the authors of the appeal warned, the proposed project in its current form could harm culture. In particular, it is pointed out that additional control, built on formal features, will lead Russian cinema and TV series to the maximum simplification, “which means it will turn away the modern viewer from them, who again, like 10-15 years ago, will turn to film production due to frontier.”
