Robert Burbano Burbano, a former soccer player, was injured after being shot in the doorway of his home, in the citadel Carlos Julio, Quevedo.
The event was recorded around 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, February 13, when the former athlete was talking with family and friends.
His friend, Christian Polo Barreira, died on the spot. While Burbano and his son, Roberto Burbano Garcés, were injuredaccording to police information. Both were taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Burbano, who in 1970 debuted in the Deportivo Quevedo club and played in the Quito League, Catholic University, Deportivo Cuenca, Olmedo, among other teams, is the father of Robert Burbano Cobeña, an Emelec player who last year played in Dolphin.
Given this fact, Burbano Cobeña commented that his father and brother were “victims of stray bullets in a street fight” that took place in that sector.
Police officers went to the neighborhood and surrounded the former player’s home with yellow tape to collect ballistic evidence and start investigations. (I)
