A strong earthquake was felt in the countries of Transcaucasia.
The epicenter was located in northern Armenia near the border with Georgia, 42 kilometers northeast of the city of Gyumri.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), a seismic event of magnitude 5.4 occurred around 18:25. The hearth lay at a depth of ten kilometers.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reported that the strength of the tremors in the epicenter was 6-7 points. Tremors of three points were recorded in Yerevan.
In Georgia, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 was recorded near the village of Sameba, 58 kilometers from Tbilisi. The tremors were felt by residents of the capital of Georgia.
