German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who was re-elected on Sunday, said in his address to the Federal Assembly that there is a threat of war in Europe. At the end of his speech, he personally appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with an appeal to look for ways out of the crisis.
According to RIA Novosti, Steinmeier noted that over the past decades, peace in Europe has become commonplace, but these days it has become clear that it needs to be protected through dialogue, “and when necessary – with the help of clarity, containment, determination.”
He stated that we have to admit: “We are in a situation of a threat of a military conflict, a war in Eastern Europe, and Russia is responsible for this.”
In addition, he turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin: “Look with us for a path that guarantees peace in Europe.”
Recall that recently in Western countries, as well as in Ukraine, there have been statements about a possible “invasion” of Russia into Ukrainian territory. American speakers argue that the attack could happen “any day”.
Moscow denies all accusations and claims that Russia poses no threat to anyone.
