Figure skater Kamila Valieva performed three quads at the second training session of the day

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva held her second training session of the day at the Beijing Olympics, performing three quads, Match TV reports.

It is noted that on Sunday morning the winner of the team tournament skated a clean run of the short program with a triple axel. Then, on the spare rink, Valieva performed a free program with a quadruple salchow, triple axel, quadruple toe loop (stepout), triple loop, quadruple toe loop-oiler-triple salchow, triple flip-triple toe loop and triple lutz-triple toe loop (stepout).

The doping test of Kamila Valieva, taken on December 25, 2021 (before the start of the Beijing Olympics) at the Russian Championship, which was held in St. Petersburg, tested positive for the banned cardio drug trimetazidine.

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) temporarily suspended the skater, but the decision has been challenged. Appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the RUSADA disciplinary committee were filed by the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency, and the International Skating Union. Hearings on the case will begin on February 13, the decision of the CAS field panel will be announced on February 14. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) issued a special statement stating that while Valieva has the right to train and take part in competitions.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, in response to questions from journalists, suggested waiting for the completion of the proceedings on the situation. He recommended Valiva not to hide her face, but to remember that she is Russian, to speak and win everyone.

Kamila Valieva is 15 years old, she is the current champion of Russia and Europe. The Russian woman holds world records in the short, free and total programs.
