French President Emmanuel Macron is convinced that a sincere dialogue is incompatible with the escalation of the conflict around Ukraine. This was reported by French Radio International (RFI), commenting on the results of a telephone conversation between Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which lasted more than an hour and a half.

According to Emmanuel Macron, both the Fifth Republic and France’s European partners and allies are concerned about the situation around Ukraine, which is awaiting a hypothetical “Russian invasion” scheduled for the winter of 2021-2022. France is ready to make diplomatic efforts to prevent such a scenario.

Both presidents “expressed their desire to continue the dialogue” on “ways to advance the implementation of the Minsk agreements” and “the conditions for security and stability in Europe.”

Shortly after this conversation, Reuters reported that it saw no sign of Russia preparing to attack Ukraine.

The hypothetical Russian invasion of Ukraine is a topic that has been in the center of attention of the world media for the fourth month. Many of the EU countries, as well as the United States, called on their fellow citizens to leave Ukraine, the US and German embassies have already announced a reduction in the number of their staff. Fuel is added to the fire by the latest message from US President Joe Biden, who believes that the Russian Federation may attack Ukraine as early as February 16.
