An unknown resident of St. Petersburg, dissatisfied with the introduction of QR codes, threatened to mine the buildings of the government and the Legislative Assembly of the city if the codes were not canceled. This was reported by KP in St. Petersburg, citing a source of information in law enforcement agencies.

An e-mail warning about the threat of mining was sent to the address of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Reports of mining turned out to be fake – neither explosive devices nor explosives were found either in Smolny or in the building of the Legislative Assembly. It was not necessary to carry out the evacuation of civil servants.

At the moment, the issue of initiating a criminal case against the false miner is being decided.

In St. Petersburg, which remains one of the leaders in terms of the number of COVID-19 cases per day, the presentation of QR codes is mandatory when visiting theaters, museums, concert halls, cinemas and other public places. Starting January 2, 2022, similar rules apply to visitors to catering establishments and retail outlets, with the exception of grocery stores and pharmacies.
