A petition drawn up by politician Ilya Yashin for the resignation of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has collected more than 200,000 signatures, and this number continues to grow. The petition, we recall, was created only 5 days ago.
The petition says that Ramzan Kadyrov created a “state within a state” in Chechnya, which has its own laws, and not the legislation of the Russian Federation. Yashin also recalls the threats against journalists, human rights activists and members of their families, which are allowed by both Ramzan Kadyrov himself and his immediate entourage.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov believes that votes on the Change.org platform can be cheated.
Recall that Chechnya and representatives of the region’s authorities have been in the center of attention of the whole country for several weeks after the detention of Zarema Musaeva, wife of the ex-Judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Saydi Yangulbaev, Zarema Musaeva in Nizhny Novgorod at the end of January. She was detained on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region and taken to Chechnya as a witness in a criminal case of fraud. The Chechen authorities stated that the wife of the former judge allegedly attacked the Chechen investigator and filed a criminal case against her. Now the woman is under arrest. Her husband and children, including the middle son Ibragim Yangulbaev, put on the federal wanted list, left the territory of Russia.
Ramzan Kadyrov, in turn, stated that the place of the former judge’s family “is either in prison or underground.” After that, State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov announced a “blood feud” against the Yangulbaevs and vowed to cut off their heads. His statement was supported by representatives of a number of law enforcement agencies of Chechnya.
The Kremlin chose not to interfere in the situation.
