The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will help anti-doping authorities investigate not only figure skater Kamila Valieva, but also her entourage, said IOC communications director Mark Adams. Adams’ words are quoted by Match TV.

“The environment is doctors, coaches and parents. We realized the importance of the environment some time ago. The IOC always welcomes an investigation into both the athletes and the environment. WADA has an investigative unit and has its own testing agency. In this case, we will contribute to the investigation not only in relation to the athlete, but also in relation to the environment, ”he said.

The representative of the IOC noted that “in terms of investigation in this case, as in others, there will be a very tough position.”

On February 11, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) announced the launch of an investigation into Valieva’s entourage due to the figure skater’s positive doping test for trimetazidine, which she passed at the end of December 2021.

The results of the test became known after the end of the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics, in which Valieva helped the Russian team win gold. RUSADA on February 8 imposed a temporary suspension on the skater, which was lifted the next day after the athlete’s appeal.
