US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken scheduled a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for today. He intends to emphasize the unity of the American partners regarding the situation in Ukraine.

The head of the State Department stressed that Washington “still sees very troubling signs of an escalation in the conflict, in particular, the pulling of new Russian military forces to the borders of Ukraine.”

According to him, the United States cannot yet claim that Moscow will really invade a neighboring country, but “all conditions have already been created for this,” writes Bloomberg.

Earlier, Blinken admitted that Russia would invade Ukraine “at any moment, including during the Beijing Olympics.”

In turn, US presidential aide Jake Sullivan believes that “the invasion will begin with an air attack.”

Russia insists it is not preparing for hostilities against Ukraine. Moscow says such accusations are being used to justify Ukraine’s military buildup and NATO concentration in Eastern Europe.
