For much of his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian head of state Vladimir Putin recalled the grievances inflicted on Russia by the West since the end of the Cold War. This, according to Novaya Gazeta, is reported by Reuters, citing sources close to the French leader.

“He continued to rewrite history for hours since 1997 and drowned his interlocutor in these long monologues. Macron continued to return to the issues of today, ”the message says.

According to the publication, Macron noted that in 2019 Putin seemed to him “less tough and less focused on history.”

Earlier, Macron flew to Moscow for talks with Putin, the meeting lasted more than five hours. Politicians discussed the situation around Ukraine, disagreements on security guarantees and non-expansion of NATO. At the same time, the negotiating table has become the subject of numerous jokes and memes on the Web. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the large social distance between Putin and Macron is due to the fact that the French leader refused to do a PCR test. The next day, the French politician flew to Kiev, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
