The first flight of the Rossiya airline arrived from Pulkovo to the Khibiny airport in the Murmansk region, a Rosbalt correspondent reports. Since February, Rossiya Airlines, a member of the Aeroflot Group, has been opening direct flights between St. Petersburg and the shared airport of the cities of Kirovsk and Apatity.

The minimum cost of tickets is 1,750 rubles. Aircraft are expected to fly five times a week.

The aircraft departs from the Northern capital to Khibiny at 11.00, the flight time is 1 hour 50 minutes. The flight departs back at 13:50.

According to company representatives, until May 15, passengers will be able to carry luggage with a total weight of up to 23 kg free of charge – this is enough to take a set of skis or a snowboard with them.

The offer is relevant taking into account the extended ski season in Khibiny – thanks to the recently introduced artificial snow system, the slopes will be available for tourists from October to June.

“The airline has so far only operated flights to Murmansk, and we have seen many fly with snowboards and skis. And they had to get to the ski resorts in Kirovsk for three whole hours, – said the official representative of the carrier Sergey Starikov. – Flights are already popular, on the first day of sales, people bought more than 1,500 tickets. The loading of the sides is already approaching 100%, we will not carry “air”.

Viktor Tikhovsky, Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of the Murmansk Region, thanked the air carrier Rossiya and PhosAgro, a producer of phosphorus-containing fertilizers and the main investor of the Khibiny airport.

“Soon the airline will fly seven days a week – we see that more and more people want to get into the heart of the Kola Peninsula, get acquainted with the local culture. From here, travel to the ends of the earth, from Khibiny to the Barents Sea, to the White Sea,” Tikhovsky said, adding that the tourist flow only increased during the pandemic.

Recall that the Khibiny airport is located in the center of the Murmansk region, a 30-minute drive from it is the city of Kirovsk and the Bolshoi Vudyavr ski resort with the highest slopes in the North-West of Russia, where both amateurs and professional athletes train.
