Steven Holguín Macías, 25, who was murdered the previous Thursday outside his home located in the Libertad 2 citadel, in Portoviejo, was considered a witness in the investigations into the crime of Venezuelan Joselyn Noguera Paredes, which occurred on Monday of this week, in the 15 de Septiembre neighborhood, in Manta.
The man was attacked by people who were traveling on a motorcycle. Residents of the sector of the Libertad 2 citadel indicated that Holguín had been residing in that sector for a few months, belonging to the Andrés de Vera parish, some indicated that they did not even know his name.
In the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) he appears as a witness in the investigations into the death of Joselyn Andreína Noguera Paredes, the Venezuelan woman who was murdered last Monday in the 15 de Septiembre neighborhood.

Noguera’s death took on importance because in January 2021 there had been attempts on her life, while in April of that year she was arrested along with eleven other people, whom the Police linked to the Los Choneros gang.
In addition, after his death, the relatives were outraged by the dissemination of photographs of Noguera at the moment the autopsy was being performed. Both the FGE and the National Police announced investigations, including a raid on the facilities of the Manta forensic center on Wednesday, as part of the investigations into this complaint.
Holguín was also designated by the FGE as an unrecognized suspect in the investigation into the murder of two people near the Los Esteros market in Manta, which occurred in August 2021.
Other inquiries in which Holguín’s name appears are related to robbery, possession of firearms and ammunition, and in some of these inquiries he appeared as a suspect along with people who were also being investigated for other crimes. (I)
