Police Corporal Dennis Pinto Herrera and Sergeant Marco Olmedo are the fatal victims of a traffic accident that occurred early this Thursday, February 10, on the E-25 of the Babahoyo-Jujan road, at the height of the Ledesma stacker.
According to witnesses, two vehicles were involved in this accident. The event also caused three wounded soldiers: two receive medical attention at the MartÃn Icaza hospital in Babahoyo and the other at the Guayaquil Police Hospital, since their condition is complicated.

Agents from the Ecuadorian Traffic Commission (CTE) and the Traffic Accident Investigation Office (OIAT) went to the site to carry out the expertise of the case.
From the account of one of the wounded, it transpired that the agents were traveling in a Hyundai Tucson vehicle from Quito to Guayaquil, where they had been given a pass to provide their services.
So far, the whereabouts of the occupants of the Toyota Fortuner vehicle, the other car involved, which was abandoned at the accident site, are unknown.

Several drivers stated that the holes and small sinkholes that exist in various sections of that highway, as well as moisture on the road, would apparently be some of the causes for the drivers of both vehicles to lose control and collide head-on.
